Wee Book Inn Brand Refresh


The Wee Book Inn is a family owned business with a rich community-based history in Edmonton from which it’s name originates. As well, “wee” and “inn” are both words originating from 14th and 15th century Europe and have an older, somewhat archaic connotation. For these reasons, updates to the brand do not modernize the business, but rather exhibit a more defined identity that pays homage to that history and continues to give a warm, homey, inviting experience to customers while upholding the values of the company.

Original Logo

The business values its community and customers. It is about people, service, and connection stemming from books. The brand personality is personable, inviting, welcoming, friendly, family-friendly, historic, homey, comfortable, and casual. Cats are used as an integral element that communicates this personality. This brand refresh seeks to use the existing brand personality and character to create a more cohesive and unified but varied brand identity.

Colour Palette

The colour palette is extracted from the eyes, nose and fur of a tabby cat image, which creates a varied but unified, subdued colour palette that also ties back to using cats as part of the personality. It has an earthy, comfortable feeling that is also eye-catching, and engaging in a way that fits the personality.
